Copyright © The Korean Dermatological Association and The Korean Society for Investigative Dermatology of melanocyte and melanin pigment was observed. A traditional histologic feature of vitiligo is epidermal loss of melanocytes, but a recent research by Kim et al. imply that residual melanocytes, although in lower level, may exist in vitiligo lesion. Unfortunately the relationship between the amount of residual melanocyte and degree of repigmentation is not yet established. Secondly, the vitiligo lesion showed complete pigmentation after treatment. Vitiligo itself is not an incurable disease, but all the reports of vitiligo with concomitant AN have failed to induce repigmentation. In conclusion, when AN is accompanied by hypopigmentation assessing the amount of melanocyte by means of skin biopsy can be helpful in predicting the potential degree of repigmentation after vitiligo treatment. This finding does not seem to affect the course of AN and thus treatment of underlying cause of AN would still be required.

Solitary Keratoacanthoma Involving Upper Lip : a Diagnos- Tic Dilemma - Case Report and a Brief Review
Keratoacanthoma (KA) is a benign epithelial proliferative lesion which frequently occurs on the sun exposed areas of the skin. KA originates within the pilosebaceous apparatus of the skin and may be solitary or multiple. Solitary KA can be difficult to differentiate from squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) both clinically and microscopically. However, the clinical course of the lesion and its ability...

Keratoacanthoma (KA) is a self-limited benign epithelial proliferative lesion that eventually presents with very similar clinical features to squamous cell carcinoma. Many KA appear in the vermilion border of the lips and therefore dental professionals must be familiar of the disease. This article reports the case of a 40-year-old female patient presenting with an exophytic ulcerative tumor in ...
متن کاملExpression of trichohyalin in dermatological disorders: a comparative study with involucrin and filaggrin by immunohistochemical staining.
To investigate the function of trichohyalin during terminal differentiation of the skin, immunohistochemical studies were performed on trichohyalin and its related proteins, filaggrin and involucrin, the components of the cornified cell envelope. In skin disorders unrelated to tumours, weak trichohyalin expression was found in a few granular cells or in the horny layer of psoriasis, ichthyosis,...
متن کاملSialadenoma Papilliferum: Clinical Misdiagnosis with a Histological Decree
Sialadenoma papilliferum is a rare salivary gland tumor clinically resembling papilloma originating probably from the excretory duct. It is characterized by a biphasic growth pattern of exophytic squamous component and endophytic glandular component. We report a rare case of sialadenoma papilliferum in the floor of the mouth with epithelial dysplasia with pertinent review of literature. The pre...

HSV: herpes simplex virus SCC: squamous cell carcinoma INTRODUCTION Metastatic disease to the skin can be difficult to diagnose clinically because it often mimics many infectious, inflammatory, and neoplastic skin conditions. Cutaneousmetastases can present as dermal or subcutaneous nodules, exophytic tumors resembling melanoma or nonmelanoma skin cancer, erythematous patches and plaques resemb...
